Slovakia offers $156.1 million in 2023 heat pump rebates for residential buildings

Slovak authorities are offering EUR 140 million ($156.1 million) in rebates for 2023 to cover up to 50 percent of the purchase and installation costs of solar water heaters, heat pumps, biomass systems, solar thermal collectors and solar power systems up to 10. kW in size.

According to it, the program’s first application for this year will be published in July, with a total budget of 140 million euros for 2023.

“We are starting a completely new program with new conditions, a new list of equipment and a list of authorized contractors,” SIEA said in a statement.

Within the Green Houses program, project developers are entitled to a one-time payment that covers a maximum of 50% of the purchase and installation costs of renewable energy systems or heat pumps. Discounts can be max €3,400 heat pumps, €1,500 solar panels and biomass systems and €1,750 solar collectors.

Since 2015, SEIA has granted approximately EUR 111 million in discounts for more than 53,000 installations. According to the International Renewable Energy Agency, Slovakia had approximately 537 MW of installed solar power capacity at the end of 2022, which was unchanged from the previous year.
