The Global Solar Council (GSC) says it is looking for a new full-time CEO as incumbent Gianni Chianetta nears the end of his three-year term.
Chianetta will participate in the recruitment process and continue as CEO until the new management comes on board. He will then serve as a senior advisor until the end of 2023, ensuring a smooth transition.
“It has been an honor to serve as CEO of GSC for the past three years and contribute to the impressive growth of the association and the solar industry. It has been a rewarding experience and I am proud of what we have achieved at such a critical time when the world is urgently increasing solar power to avoid the worst effects of climate change and achieve energy security,” said Chianetta. “I look forward to continuing our strong partnership with GSC Chairman Maté Heisz and supporting the new CEO as they take GSC’s impact to the next level.”
The GSC was established in Paris at COP 21 in 2015 as the first dedicated and unified body for the solar energy industry. GSC has established itself as a major international body that brings together national and regional solar industry associations and leading global companies under one roof. During Chianetta’s tenure, the Washington-based nonprofit saw significant growth through collaboration with key climate and renewable energy organizations, opening new opportunities for the solar industry around the world and strengthening the industry’s voice at key international climate forums.
“On behalf of the GSC Board, I would like to express my deepest gratitude to Gianni for his dedication and vision throughout his tenure as CEO,” said GSC Chairman Máté Heisz. “As the world prepares for COP28 and strives to achieve net zero emissions, GSC’s role in championing solar power as a key climate solution has never been more important. Working together with Gianni as Senior Advisor and new CEO, we aim to make the organization and the global solar industry stronger than ever to ensure the world meets its climate goals.
