The Melbourne Market Authority has commissioned a 2.4 MW solar park in Melbourne, Australia. It is the first phase of a three-phase project culminating in a 10 MW rooftop system.
The Melbourne Market Authority has commissioned the largest rooftop solar system in the Australian state of Victoria. The 2.4 MW solar parking space is used for truck loading and parking. The system produces 3,000 MWh of solar energy per year and is installed by NGE / Beon Energy Solutions.
The car park will operate in the initial phase of a three-phase project, with later phases focusing on installing solar panels on existing market and warehouse rooftops on the authority’s 67-hectare site in Melbourne.
“When the whole project is complete, a 10 MW rooftop solar system will be on the market, one of the largest rooftop installations in Australia,” said Melbourne Market Authority CEO Mark Maskiell.
The solar park system has 450 W LG panels and commercial SolarEdge inverters.
The Melbourne Market Authority, a Victorian governing body, connects fresh food and flower growers with wholesalers, retailers and distributors.
