Atlas Renewable Energy has signed an unprecedented 21-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with Brazil’s largest aluminum producer, Albras. It is the longest renewable energy PPA ever concluded in Latin America.

Atlas Renewable Energy has signed a power purchase agreement with Albras, Brazil’s largest primary aluminum producer. Under the agreement signed in US dollars, Atlas will supply solar power for 21 years, the longest renewable energy PPA ever signed in Latin America.

The energy supplied to Albras will come from the Vista Alegre solar project, which is scheduled to start operating in 2025. The partnership between Atlas and Albras will produce enough renewable energy to power a population of around 3 million, including Brazil’s capital Brasilia.

“This is an important step for Atlas as we continue to focus on partnering with business customers to support their energy transition to clean energy,” said Carlos Barrera, CEO of Atlas Renewable Energy. “Closing our second contract with Albras proves our ability to offer our customers an attractive customized energy solution.”

Atlas Renewable Energy has more than 4 GW of contracted projects, of which 2.2 GW are in operation. The company has specialized in the development, financing, construction and operation of renewable energy projects in America since the beginning of 2017. In November 2022, the company launched a 300 MW solar project in Mexico.
