Genie Energy acquires the rights to a community solar energy center in New York State

Genie Renewablesa division of energy services provider Genie Energy Ltd., says it has purchased site rights for a community solar energy production facility in New York state.

Once constructed and commissioned, the proposed project is expected to have a total generating capacity of approximately 6.25 MW.

“Community solar and other utility-scale solar power generation is essential to significantly reducing carbon emissions,” said Michael Stein, CEO of Genie Energy. “Now the improved economy drives strong project demand in our current market and speeds up the implementation of solar energy production projects in new markets across the country.”


Genie Renewables also says it has received a favorable coordinated grid interconnection review and interconnection cost estimate from Con Ed for its proposed 3 MW community solar project in New York State. The company expects to receive notice to proceed and begin construction in the coming months, subject to land lease negotiations and local permits being obtained.
