EnergySage, a residential solar and storage information site, has published semi-annually market report. The report analyzes millions of transaction-level data points collected from quotes sent to homeowners shopping on the website through 2022.

Quoted residential solar prices rose in 2022, rising 6.7% from 2021 prices when they hit a new low. The average price of solar energy quoted in EnergySage was $2.85 per watt in 2022.

Energy storage bid prices also rose in 2022, rising $50 per stored kilowatt-hour, or about 4% from 2021 to 2022. EnergySage said most quoted battery prices will fall between $13,000 and $18,000 for a single battery. Median storage prices have increased from $1,140 in the second half of 2020 to $1,339 in the second half of 2022.

The average quoted system size also increased slightly with the average power of the systems at 10.9 kW, compared to the previous year it was 10.2 kW. Estimated payback times were shortened slightly when the increase in electricity bills outstripped the increase in the cost of installed solar panels.
