According to new figures from the National Energy Administration (NEA), China reached 314 GW of cumulative solar power capacity by the end of February.

NEW said new solar installations in China were 20.37GW in the first two months of this year, up 88% from a year earlier. About 8 GW of this capacity came from large installations, with the rest being distributed solar systems.

The NEA attributed this strong growth to the fact that projects with a long term of 2022 were completed in the first quarter. Given that there is now a pipeline of about 34 GW of delayed projects, China could reach over 54 GW of installed solar capacity in the first year. half of this year, it said.

According to the China Photovoltaic Industry Association (CPIA), the country will add 87.41 GW of new PV capacity in 2022. CPIA said it expects new PV additions to reach 95 GW and 120 GW this year.
