Birch Creek Energy LLCThe St. Louis-based renewable energy company has launched its independent power generation unit, Birch Creek Power, expanding its development unit, Birch Creek Development.
The company says the move adds a significant element to Birch Creek’s build-to-build model in key markets, providing additional options to Birch Creek’s solar and storage development pipeline.
Birch Creek Power focuses on owning and operating renewable energy sources, utilizing Birch Creek’s expertise in developing and financing solar and storage projects in the energy sector. The launch of the new entity gives the company the opportunity to take a more active role in the renewable energy market and strengthen the platform by participating directly as a long-term sponsor and operator of renewable energy.
“Adding IPP capabilities to our platform is a natural evolution of our business,” said Dan Siegel, CEO of Birch Creek. “Over the past year, we’ve built a significant pipeline in key markets and worked tirelessly to develop an independent development engine capable of delivering high-quality, high-value solar projects.”
Birch Creek has developed 36 utility-scale solar projects totaling 872 MW and has a portfolio of over 8 GW of solar and storage projects in various stages of development in MISO, PJM, ERCOT and Southeast Finland.
