Meyer Burger Technology AG says it plans to introduce a unified product platform for its solar modules that will allow the company to build production capacity faster and with less risk.

Designed according to Meyer Burger, the products combine the best aspects of glass-to-glass and glass-to-backplate modules, offering durability, bifaciality, lightness, sustainably high performance and attractive aesthetics in black, white and transparent versions.

The new product platform enables the scalability of new manufacturing capacities and speeds up mass production; For example, it eliminates downtime caused by product changes and complex procurement logistics processes due to product diversity. This allows Meyer Burger to take advantage of more opportunities to reduce manufacturing costs. In addition, a unified platform enables research and development to be concentrated.

According to the company, the new platform can be combined with future solar cell technologies such as IBC-HJT and HJT-perovskite tandem, which ensures future development steps on Meyer Burger’s roadmap.

The production lines of Goodyear’s future factory in the USA were designed from the beginning for the new product platform. The technical upgrades of the Freiberg factory are scheduled to begin in the second quarter, and ramp-up of Freiberg’s third module line will begin this summer.
