Southern Illinois Healthcare (SIH), a multi-hospital system in Carbondale, Illinois, is commissioning three Nexamp community solar farms in Illinois: Pope Creek Solar in Aledo, Mound City Solar in Mound City, and Percy Renewables 1 in Percy. .

“As a service not-for-profit organization, our primary goal is to ensure that every dollar goes as far as possible in achieving our mission of improving the health and well-being of people in all the communities we serve,” says SIH Director of Facilities Dan. Boeckman. “Participating in the Community Solar Program allows us to manage our good financial resources while promoting much-needed clean energy growth in Illinois.”

The Nexamp solar farm generates a bill credit for each kilowatt hour produced. These credits are applied to SIH’s utility bills in Ameren’s service area, offsetting its costs dollar for dollar. Each credit is sold at a guaranteed fixed discount for the life of the contract, providing predictable savings year after year.

“We see how important it is for healthcare facilities today to control costs, but at the same time we hear how important sustainability is to their long-term strategies,” says Joe Fiori, Nexamp’s director of energy sales. “This agreement with SIH gives them a new tool to maintain their leadership position in the region.”
